Renaming Forum Directory
In this tutorial, I will show you (in text and in screenshots) how to rename your forum directory to another name, while keeping the database and files.
Let's begin!
Rename Directory Log into your host through an FTP client or your hosting control panel (cPanel).
File Manager If you're using a hosting control panel, click on File Manager.
Navigation Using the FTP client or hosting control panel file manager, navigate to outside your original forums directory.
Rename For those with an FTP client, right click on the folder and click Rename. For those using the file manager, left-click on the name of the folder and select Rename.
Configuration Modification Enter your new forums directory and find conf_global.php. It will be right there in the root of the directory. Click on that file and edit it.
Change URL Locate your old URL and change the directory to the new renamed directory.
Save File Click on Save File at th bottom of the page or Ctrl + S in your FTP client.
Control Panel Enter the Administration Control Panel (Admin CP). This will bring you to the screen in which you enter your administrative username and password.
Login Enter your administrative username and password (same as your forum username and password)
Tools & Settings Click on the Tools & Settings tab.
General Configuration Locate General Configuration and click on it.
URLs and Paths Change the Upload URL and the Upload Path to the new directory and save the configuration.
